Description
We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support the Curriculum Department at a non-profit organization in New Orleans, Louisiana. This short-term contract position requires someone who can efficiently handle administrative tasks and assist with educational planning and data management. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an educational setting and be capable of quickly adapting to department-specific processes.
Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative support to the Curriculum Department, including scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
• Assist with student registration and maintain accurate records in the PowerSchool database.
• Prepare materials and data for state and national testing, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
• Monitor and update the student tracker board with term assessment results, categorizing performance levels.
• Organize student meetings by subject groups and create schedules for sessions in designated locations.
• Ensure lesson plan and grade compliance by reviewing submissions and verifying accuracy during specified intervals.
• Support small group tutoring initiatives and Leap test preparation efforts.
• Place and track orders for department supplies and educational materials.
• Enter relevant data into department systems and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Respond to inquiries and provide reception support, including answering inbound calls.
Requirements • Proven experience in administrative assistance, preferably in an educational or non-profit environment.
• Proficiency in data entry and database management systems such as PowerSchool.
• Familiarity with lesson planning and classroom instruction processes.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, students, and stakeholders.
• Competence in handling receptionist duties, including answering calls and managing inquiries.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and workflows.
