Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team in Spokane Valley, Washington within the construction industry. This role requires a proactive individual with strong accounting skills, excellent organization, and the ability to handle multiple financial tasks efficiently. As a Contract to permanent position, this opportunity offers potential for long-term growth within the construction industry.
The ideal Bookkeeper will have strong GL reconciliation experience, be a team player, and excited to support a busy team.
Responsibilities:
• Process overhead invoices, verify material receipts, and prepare vendor payments accurately and on time.
• Maintain detailed records of accounts payable and provide backup support for vendor bill processing.
• Manage accounts receivable by tracking monthly reports, recording customer payments, and assisting with collections.
• Support payroll processing by verifying time reports, assigning pay codes, and ensuring compliance with prevailing wage requirements.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly while maintaining accurate and up-to-date transaction records.
• Review and adjust sales tax updates quarterly, ensuring accurate reporting and timely payments.
• Generate financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and rolling forecasts, to assist management in decision-making.
• Prepare for year-end processes such as 1099 distribution and providing financial backups to external accounting firms.
• Assist with labor compliance by filing prevailing wage intents and affidavits and monitoring wage rate adjustments.
• Provide administrative support by dispatching jobs, issuing purchase orders, and performing end-of-day building security procedures.
Requirements • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in the construction or service-based industries.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, QuickBooks Time, Microsoft Excel, and payroll systems.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and a high level of accuracy in financial tasks.
• Ability to create, analyze, and interpret financial reports using QuickBooks and Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and labor compliance procedures.
