Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team on a contract basis in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This role involves managing financial tasks across several areas, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate should possess a strong attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to navigate complex funding regulations and grant requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Process and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist in preparing financial reports while ensuring adherence to organizational policies and funding regulations.
• Support payroll operations for a workforce of over 300 employees, including data entry and reconciliation.
• Interpret and apply regulations related to funding sources and grant applications.
• Organize and maintain financial records to ensure compliance during audits.
• Collaborate with internal departments to streamline purchasing and other financial operations.
• Handle financial tasks related to lending and other finance-related activities as required.
• Participate in cross-training initiatives to provide support across various accounting functions within the organization.

Requirements • At least 3–5 years of accounting or financial experience.
• Previous experience in nonprofit fund accounting is preferred.
• Familiarity with payroll processing for large teams, ideally 300+ employees.
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable procedures.
• Ability to interpret and manage complex funding regulations effectively.
• Understanding of grant application processes and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
