Description We are looking for a dedicated Property Accountant to join our team in St. Paul, Minnesota. This role involves managing accounting tasks for multiple residential properties, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with company policies. Responsibilities:
• Oversee accounting activities for multiple residential properties using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Record and reconcile rent deposits for assigned properties to maintain proper financial tracking.
• Perform bank account reconciliations and create general journal entries to ensure data integrity.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including payments and vendor communication.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements for assigned properties with precision.
• Coordinate with accountants for year-end tax preparations and other financial reviews.
• Communicate with bankers, vendors, auditors, and external agencies to resolve accounting-related matters.
• Issue 1099s and 1096s to vendors and obtain necessary documentation such as W9s and certificates of insurance.
• Support audits for worker’s compensation, sales tax, and other required assessments.
• Collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently and professionally. Requirements • At least 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team while displaying initiative and dependability.
• Degree in accounting or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with accrual accounting and general ledger processes.
• Experience with property management software, such as Yardi, is a plus.
• Capability to manage month-end close procedures and handle complex problem-solving tasks.
