    Description

    We are looking for an experienced Property Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial success of our organization by overseeing property-related accounting tasks and ensuring compliance with established standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in property accounting and demonstrate expertise in financial reconciliation, reporting, and analysis.

    Responsibilities:

    • Reconcile bank statements monthly.

    • Journalize various expenses monthly.

    • Review the general ledger for inaccuracies monthly.

    • Ensure subsidiary ledgers match the trial balance.

    • Produce monthly reports.

    • Process security deposits.

    • Enter adjusting journal entries.

    • Assist with year-end close and audit preparation.

    • Oversees payroll processes

    • Guides accounting team members on various task and inquiries

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required

    • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within the real estate industry

    • Residential and/or affordable housing experience preferred

    • Commercial real estate experience is a plus

    • Strong working knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

    • Working knowledge of Yardi Voyager preferred

    • Strong organizational and time-management skills

    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment

    • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and manage tasks proactively

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization

    • Ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
