We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the layout and design of mechanical parts and systems of simple complexity. You will play a crucial role in executing the mechanical design of jet engine test facilities and systems designed to withstand specified loading conditions. This includes material selection and specification, sheet metal, weldments, machining, and strength characteristics.
Responsibilities
+ Design custom systems that withstand specified loading conditions, focusing on material selection, sheet metal, weldments, and machining.
+ Perform simple calculations related to product form, fit, structural requirements, and function to support project needs.
+ Ensure product designs align with company design and quality standards, as well as customer specifications.
+ Populate the lessons learned ledger to support continuous improvement efforts.
+ Provide ongoing feedback to management on deliverables while completing tasks with supervision and guidance.
+ Acquire necessary knowledge to improve technology, products, and processes.
+ Actively participate in a culture of continuous improvement by recommending and implementing enhancements to current methods and procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
+ Minimum of 3+ years experience in mechanical engineering.
+ Proficiency in CAD software including NX, Creo, Solidworks, and AutoCAD.
+ Experience in FEA, Risk analysis, and mechanical drafting standards.
+ Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Design and Drafting Standards, Engineering Drawing Practices, and Structural Welding Code.

+ Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey information accurately, listen effectively, and ask clarifying questions.
+ Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, actively seeking opportunities to improve quality and monitoring work to ensure quality standards are met.
+ Self-motivated, organized, and able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
+ Proficient in MS Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
+ Design experience in both US and SI units and materials specifications is preferred.
+ Regulatory experience is preferred.
Work Environment
This role involves cross-functional collaboration with designers, engineers, other departments, and leadership. The work environment fosters a small feel with approximately 140 people at this location, while being part of a larger organization. A focus on continuous improvement and quality is emphasized.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Brighton, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr.
