The Medical Project Office within Medical Program Management seeks a dedicated Medical Affairs Project Manager to consolidate and standardize repeatable activities, ensuring high quality, consistency, accuracy, and efficiency. The role involves providing project management expertise for the successful execution of Medical Affairs advisory boards and symposia, leading through effective collaboration with Medical Affairs Business Owners, Medical Program Managers, Support Teams, and vendors.
Responsibilities
+ Provide project management expertise to ensure successful execution of 25-30 programs focused on Advisory Boards, coordinating resources and stakeholders across vendors and internal groups. Manage planning, cost, timeline, scope, and risk management plans, escalating risks as needed.
+ Lead coordination and project management for internal stakeholders and external vendors supporting logistics and content development for TA-specific Symposia and Ad Boards. Ensure vendors comply with all internal policies and external regulations.
+ Support less complex event types as assigned and assist in using, maintaining, and evaluating Preferred Supplier Networks in conjunction with TAs, MPMs, and Purchasing.
+ Initiate requests for support from internal support teams and monitor performance against plans. Establish and manage regularly scheduled planning meetings.
+ Maintain project timelines, follow up on status and action items, and document project plan activities to ensure effective and timely completion. Communicate proactively across team members to support successful execution and keep stakeholders informed.
+ Provide guidance to Symposia and Ad Board Business Owners regarding global policies, local requirements, lead times, and procedures to ensure compliant event execution.
+ Conduct post-meeting debriefs and document lessons learned to inform future planning activities.
Essential Skills
+ Strong project management skills
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a Health Sciences or business-related field (MBA preferred)
+ Project management certification (e.g., PMP) and/or Six Sigma certification preferred
+ Significant experience in Medical Affairs and/or medical education
+ 8+ years of work experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with 2+ years in Medical Affairs roles preferred
+ Excellent leadership, self-management, organizational, and communication skills
+ Experience managing external vendors
+ Experience leading in a multi-task, multi-country, and virtual environment
+ Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills
+ High level of emotional intelligence and strong business acumen
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in Medical Ad Board & Symposium execution
+ Ability to influence without authority
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
Work Environment
The position is based in Lake County with a hybrid onsite schedule. The work environment includes an optional remote workday on Monday, onsite presence required from Tuesday to Thursday, and an optional remote workday on Friday.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00/hr.
