Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for diverse applications. You will create and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project requirements and customer needs. This role involves conducting feasibility studies, cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. You will troubleshoot issues, stay abreast of technological advancements, and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders.
Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components.
+ Create and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and cost estimates.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical systems and components.
+ Stay updated with the latest technological advancements.
+ Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for stakeholders.
+ Conduct and participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
+ Perform trade studies to select the best solutions for design requirements.
+ Support production, testing, and operation of fielded equipment.
+ Document engineering drawings, standards, specifications, proposals, manuals, and discoveries.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
+ Eligible for secret level security clearance.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
+ Proven experience in electrical design and development.
+ Familiarity with software for electrical design, documentation, and analysis.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
+ Ability to manage time across multiple projects and meet deadlines.
+ Capability to apply scientific principles and innovative approaches.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with data transmission and link budgets.
+ Experience with AC, DC, and 3-phase power systems.
+ Experience with cable design and fabrication.
+ Knowledge of electrical drawing standards and software like AutoCAD or EPLAN.
+ Experience with development and production programs.
+ Understanding of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and mitigation techniques.
+ Hands-on electrical testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation skills.
+ Experience with statistical analysis.
+ Familiarity with programming languages such as structured text (PLC), C, or C++.
Work Environment
The position is based in a small space within the Air Dock, equipped with ground station units adjacent to offices. There is flexibility for remote work, although some projects may require daily on-site presence. Travel may be required up to 20%, typically once or twice a month, for vendor facility visits or aerostat site evaluations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $67.31/hr.
