Generator Service Technician
An opportunity to learn, grow, and build a skilled career—no experience with generators required. We provide plenty of hands‑on, on‑the‑job training.
About the Role
As a Generator Service Technician, you’ll become a key part of a team that keeps power running for major events, military operations, disaster‑relief efforts, and more. You’ll work directly with generators and rental equipment—handling delivery, setup, teardown, maintenance, and repair.
You’ll start locally with **full training from** **senior** **technicians** , and once you’re confident in your skills, you’ll have the chance to **travel across the U.S.** to service equipment at high‑profile sites.
What You’ll Do
+ **Prepare, inspect, and operate equipment** before delivery.
+ **Load and unload** delivery vehicles.
+ **Deliver, pick up, set up, and tear down** equipment at customer locations.
+ Walk customers through **proper use and care** of equipment.
+ Assist customers with equipment retrieval and restocking.
+ Inspect returned equipment to ensure it’s clean, functional, and ready for the next rental.
+ Tag items needing repair, cleaning, or modification.
+ Keep facilities and vehicles **clean, organized, and safe** .
+ Troubleshoot issues and resolve problems efficiently.
+ Complete paperwork accurately, including hours, service records, and admin tasks.
+ Identify and order necessary parts and materials.
+ **Repair, recondition, and maintain** equipment and components.
+ Disassemble and reassemble mechanical and electrical systems.
+ Perform **preventative maintenance** on company‑owned and customer equipment.
+ Pull orders from the warehouse, verify packing lists, and prepare shipments.
Essential Skills
+ General troubleshooting and repair experience.
+ Comfortable using hand and power tools.
+ Basic electrical wiring and automotive repair knowledge.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude; carpentry skills are a plus.
+ Experience with generators, diesel systems, 3‑phase power, hydraulics, or machine assembly is helpful—but **not required** , thanks to our **robust on‑the‑job training** .
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Diesel troubleshooting experience is a major advantage.
+ Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, skid steers, and similar equipment.
+ Ability to read manuals and schematics.
+ Self‑motivated, dependable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
+ At least one year of hydraulic troubleshooting experience preferred.

Work Environment
+ First shift: **7:00 AM – 3:30 PM** , with 5–10 hours of overtime during busy periods.
+ Large property with offices, warehouse, and generator shop.
+ Work both indoors and outdoors year‑round.
+ Team of ~15 rental staff, including 7 technicians.
+ Dress code: steel‑toed shoes, long pants, and work shirt.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnsburg, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
