Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work from production schedules, material issue tickets, prints, set-up diagrams, and parts program lists. You will play a key role in our manufacturing process, ensuring the quality and precision of our products.
Responsibilities
+ Review production schedules and retrieve prints and count sheets for jobs to be run.
+ Follow all general and machine-specific work instructions, including start-up, complex set-ups, preventive maintenance, operating, shut down, and lockout tag-out.
+ Check set-up sheets for the positioning of fixtures on the machine bed.
+ Verify material for proper straightness and length.
+ Load and edit programs by checking the parts program list for the correct program number.
+ Install and adjust tool lengths, enter tool speeds and feeds, and check program dimensions against prints.
+ Load material, make test runs, spot drill, check dimensions, and submit the first piece for approval.
+ Monitor operations, adjust feed and speed, replace tools as necessary, and maintain machine oil levels.
+ Adjust programs based on varying material lengths.
+ Maintain production records and perform SPC and quality check procedures.
+ Unload parts and transfer holes with pneumatic hand drills.
+ Perform necessary calibration checks for tape measures, squares, calipers, and other gauges.
+ Use equipment such as lift trucks, pneumatic hand hoists, manual drills, grinders, tape measures, and digital calipers.
+ Prepare required operation reports.
Essential Skills
+ At least 2 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
+ Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and blueprints.
+ Experience with tool changes.
+ Willingness to work in a hot and challenging environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Advanced setup skills, complete changeovers, change fixtures, and change inserts.
+ Basic programming knowledge, particularly minor edits on Mazaks.
+ Experience working in the metals/steel industry.

Work Environment
The work environment consists of shifts with a lot of overtime available: 3rd (12am-8am). The facility is large, with over 10 different buildings. You will work around furnaces, heat-treating machines, heavy CNC machinery, forklifts, and cranes. The environment can become hot during the summer months, but big garage doors help cool the place down, and free Gatorade is provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crystal Lake, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
