    Job Title: Manual Machinist** **Job Description

     

    As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for machining parts for rotating equipment such as pumps, shafts, couplings, rings, cases, turbines, and valves using manual mills and lathes. You will primarily work with steel and stainless steel, ensuring precision down to .5 thousandths of an inch in tolerance.

    Responsibilities

    + Operate manual mills and lathes to machine parts for rotating equipment.

    + Work primarily with steel and stainless steel materials.

    + Ensure precision machining down to .5 thousandths of an inch.

    + Utilize equipment such as horizontal boring mills and vertical turret lathes.

    + Read and interpret blueprints and use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.

    + Perform grinding and use drill presses as needed.

    Essential Skills

    + 4+ years of experience in manual machining.

    + Proficiency in operating lathes and mills.

    + Ability to maintain precise tolerances in machining.

    + Familiarity with horizontal boring mills (HBM) and vertical turret lathes (VTL).

    + Strong blueprint reading skills and use of micrometers and calipers.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + VTL and HBM skills are highly desired for the shop environment.

    Work Environment

    Work in a climate-controlled indoor shop with a flexible schedule. Shifts run from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts for emergencies. Holiday work is compensated at double time, and employees receive a 10% differential for PM shifts. Enjoy eight holidays and two floating holidays, along with a 4% 401(k) match.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kenner, LA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $45.00/hr.
