    Job Title: Quality Supervisor** **Job Description

     

    The Lab Quality Supervisor will oversee laboratory operations to ensure compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role is responsible for supervising laboratory staff, managing metallurgical and chemical testing, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to support manufacturing excellence.

    Responsibilities

    + Supervise laboratory operations including metallurgical, chemical, and spectrometer testing.

    + Ensure compliance with ISO, customer, and internal quality standards.

    + Lead and mentor laboratory technicians, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

    + Develop and implement laboratory procedures, work instructions, and quality control methods.

    + Coordinate audits (internal and external) and ensure corrective actions are completed.

    + Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and support lean initiatives.

    + Maintain accurate documentation of test results, certifications, and compliance records.

    + Drive process improvements in laboratory efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

    Essential Skills

    + 3–5 years supervisory experience in a laboratory or manufacturing quality environment.

    + Strong knowledge of spectrometer analysis, metallurgical and chemical testing.

    + Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

    + Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams.

    + Proficiency in documentation, audits, and compliance systems.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, and quality control.

    + Ability to interpret blueprints and supervise quality inspection processes.

    Work Environment

    The work environment includes a challenging chemical plant setting with exposure to strong ammonia smells and black powder. Candidates will undergo a two-week training program, with the first week in a training facility in Decatur and the second week on-site. The facility features high-temperature furnaces, robots, and powdered metal operations. Supervisors will be responsible for general production duties and managing a team of 10-12 employees. The role requires a 6:30 AM start time with an 8-hour shift.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
