Responsibilities As the Deputy Administrative Officer, the incumbent will participate fully in directing and managing the overall administrative support program for the United States Attorney's Office. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: Serving as a Deputy Chief of the Administrative Division and, with the Administrative Officer (AO), participating fully as a senior administrative advisor to the United States Attorney for planning and managing all United States Attorney's Office (USAO) resources. Assisting the Administrative Officer in managing, through two or more subordinate supervisors, a subordinate staff of administrative, technical, and clerical staff organized in two or more organizational units. Actively participating with District management in the formulation and implementation of district-wide policies and procedures pertaining to management and general office administration. Advising senior management staff on options to define and maximize overall effectiveness of administrative programs. Assisting the Administrative Officer in analyzing organizational and work design proposals recommended by subordinate supervisors. With the Administrative Officer, participating fully in the overall planning and management of a comprehensive administrative services and support programs: budget administration and financial management, personnel management and administration, security, space and facilities management, support services and property management, contracting and procurement, and all related internal controls. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-14: To be eligible at the GS-14 level, you must have at least ONE year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes experience performing the following: 1) managing the distribution of staff workload to meet the mission of an organization; 2) providing advisory services to senior management officials on administrative program areas; 3) developing and maintaining a system of internal controls and accountability; and 4) supervising or managing an office or organization for two or more of the following administrative program areas: (a) Budget; (b) Human Resources (HR); (c) Information Technology (IT); (d) Acquisitions and/or Contracting; or e) Property/Space Management. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
