Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Field House pool at Offutt AFB. Responsibilities Plans and administers a year-round indoor aquatics program. Plans and coordinates the details of recurring activities and special events to make maximum use of facilities. Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of the aquatics program from the standpoint of participant responses. Resources, and regulatory objectives. Manages customer service. Safety and maintenance of swimming facility. Identifies and maintains the NAF and APF budgets in accordance with established procedures. Responsible for all activity supplies and equipment, and facilities and ensures proper maintenance of such. Establishes work schedules. Constantly maintains established schedules and procedures and/or oral instructions. Supervises Swim Instructors and Lifeguards. Sets priorities, assigns work, provides training, and evaluates performance. Instructs or supervises all swimming lessons and instructions to groups of adults and/or children or to individual adults or children. Offers classes and effectively accomplishes lesson plan objectives. Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Works in swimming pool environment where lifeguards are present to perform lifesaving activity. Assist lifeguards in inspecting pools for safe conditions, and perform other duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming pool to include lifeguarding, cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks. Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble promptly administers first aid and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pool, operates water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose mating and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the outdoor recreation program and the pool. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Conditions of Employment: Must have knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of aquatic program management. Must have knowledge gained through relevant experience which enables the employee to competently and independently carry out continuing aquatics projects and programs. Must have and maintain an approved and current nationally recognized certificate for the type of activity and skill levels they are instructing, e.g... swimming, aquatic exercise. Must have nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. Must have experience which provides practical knowledge of instructional and developmental teaching methods swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
