SUMMARY

As a Unit Secretary, you are an integral part of the nursing unit, which relies on your help to Uplift humanity through care for our community by creating a lasting first impression on a nursing unit - meeting and greeting patients, families and other healthcare team members.

STATUS: Full Time

DEPARTMENT: Interventional Cardiology

SCHEDULE: Evenings- Rotating weekends/holidays

ATTRIBUTES

+ Two years’ experience, in a healthcare or customer service position(or similar) preferred

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact successfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members

+ Demonstrated experience with PC and software programs

RESPONSIBILITIES

Non-Clinical Patient Care & Service

+ Unit Administrative Duties

+ Answers telephone, routes calls and provides administrative support for nursing and physicians. Sort and distribute mail throughout the nursing unit.

+ Assists with healthcare team member, physician, patient and visitor inquiries.

+ Maintain patient flow for the Unit by verifying daily census list against actual census

+ Notifies bed coordination of known discharges, as they occur

+ Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory and supply levels determined by unit.

+ Creates work orders, HELPSTAR tickets and report any unit needs to environmental, engineering, injury prevention, to appropriate department.

+ Daily rounding of patients on unit, updates whiteboards, conducts room surveys for potential harm, and ensures safety measures are in place.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
