How Will You Make an Impact?
The Material Handler I supports operations by storing and shipping materials at temperatures ranging from ambient (room temperature) to -196 degrees C with potentially hazardous properties.
A Day in the Life:
+ Receive incoming raw materials
+ Facilitate movement of materials, including hazardous materials, across the site
+ Maintain accurate inventory through receipts, adjustments, and cycle counts
+ Main job function is package movement and delivery throughout our Frederick campus
+ Site delivery driving, pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and accurately process items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements
+ Sustain a high level of quality to ensure customers receive accurate product and in the time requested.
+ Verify the quality, type and number of materials received are accurate and appropriate documentation is present (e.g. packing list).
+ Safely operate distribution equipment, as required
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Required: No previous work experience required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
+ Able to work independently and set priorities
+ Effective interpersonal and communication skills
+ Able to work as part of a team
+ Able to work with methods to handle, process and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
+ Able to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents, and marked changes in temperature
+ Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols
+ Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs
+ Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day
+ PIT equipment will be in use

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $13.82–$23.04.
