The Position
Who We Are
The Learning & Skill Development (LSD) organization is key to instilling a digital culture and continuous learning mindset across the Commercial and Medical Group (CMG), ensuring all CMG customers—employees, managers, healthcare providers, and patients—have the information and skills they need. LSD is driving this transformation by pioneering advances in skills management, digital learning, experiential learning, and workflow learning. The team is composed of Learning Business Partners and Learning Design Architects (who cover perennial focus areas like medical and leadership, alongside transformation areas like omnichannel and health equity), supported by Instructional Designers, Multimedia Partners, Facilitators, Learning Technologists, and an Analytics function that maps CMG's skill domains and employee skill gain to business impact metrics.
The Opportunity
The Project Manager contributes with knowledge and skills typically gained through extended education and/or significant working experience. Performs a range of assignments related to job discipline with limited guidance. Is a strategic partner to teams and plays a critical role in the proactive planning, execution and optimization of processes, resources, timelines, milestones and deliverables; achieving it through excellence in project management, new Agile ways of working and by helping teams seamlessly interface with Genentech’s operational and technical infractures. This role includes management of the critical tasks associated with each phase of the project as well as regular reporting or risks, mitigations, and open items. You work within established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision. You can identify the problem and all relevant issues in straightforward situations, assess each using standard procedures and make sound decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Deliver consistent and high quality project management services to enable team and project success by being strategic in project planning, team management and process management
+ Applies project management principles, processes, and tools to ensure on-time, on-target and within-budget delivery of training programs and projects
+ Prepare/Track/Update project/task plan, schedules, agendas, meeting and status reports.
+ Support key stakeholders and leaders in cross-functional and/or portfolio-level project teams and initiatives; helping the overall business of Genentech to continuously evolve, improve and excel
+ Executes on operations initiatives, can serve to influence and champion programs or ideas across CMG, and is influential in collaborating with senior leadership to achieve objectives
+ Update leadership regarding ongoing implementation project status by preparing management summary reports
+ Ability to organize and track multiple concurrent tasks involving cross-functional resource teams
Leverage local and CMG affiliations and identify, celebrate and promote a culture that fosters 1) inclusive team experiences, 2) patient and customer centered culture, 3) enterprise thinking, and 4) teamwork and collaboration across local department, network and CMG
+ Execute and coordinate a multi-channel communication strategy that supports vision strategy and network engagement, as well as incorporating Genentech and CMG guidelines and recommendations
+ Partner across local operations network to ensure effective and coordinated customer and employee experience
+ Collaborate with network operations partners to meet portfolio business needs
+ Pull through and champion Genentech/CMG/LSD philosophy across network
+ Contribute to fit-for-purpose business/financial planning and people practices
+ Execute on planning for and facilitation of meetings; contribute to agenda development, meeting facilitation with a focus on adopting agile practices, capture and follow-up on action items as needed
+ Execute on improvement and innovation strategies or proposals to support the overall objectives and long-term goals of the organization
Who you are
+ You have a Bachelor’s degree or similar focus. In lieu of a degree an additional 4 years of experience is acceptable
+ You have 5 years of experience in Project Management
+ Create KPIs, progress reports, burndown charts, and dashboards to monitor progress to provide to teams and leadership
+ Subject Matter Expert for agile methodologies and practices
+ Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Safe, FDD, etc
+ Demonstrates experience effectively planning complex projects, incorporating best-practices and customer management
+ A strong communicator with exceptional verbal and written communication skills to translate the vision and strategy into clear priorities and direction, both internally and externally, and be able to work effectively
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Google Analytics, Learning Management Systems, Content Management Systems and Adobe Tools); Software tools such as Google Suite, Video Conferencing, Visio, MS Project, Smartsheet, Trello, etc
Preferred Qualifications
+ PMP certification is a plus or equivalent of experience in project management includes responsibilities for leading multiple projects simultaneously, involving cross-functional teams and internal and external customers management
+ PROSCI Certified or experience in PROSCI methodology desirable

This role is based out of our South San Francisco Genentech Campus.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $111,800/yr to $207,600/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
