    The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Genentech.

A Postdoctoral fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent candidate to join the laboratory of Dr. Robert Yauch in the Department of Discovery Oncology at Genentech. Our laboratory is dedicated to discovering novel cancer cell dependencies and synthetic lethal interactions that offer high potential for therapeutic exploitation. Recently, we have focused on targetable vulnerabilities arising from loss-of-function defects in chromatin remodelers and unique dependencies impacting protein phosphatase regulation. To rigorously probe these areas, we utilize state-of-the-art _in vitro_ and _in vivo_ techniques, coupled with innovative chemical biology approaches, to validate and target these critical cancer cell vulnerabilities.

    The Opportunity:

+ To employ state-of-the-art technologies exploring fundamental cancer cell biology

+ To collaborate with other researchers across the organization to accelerate research progress and foster interdisciplinary knowledge.

+ To take advantage of Genentech’s rich environment of core facilities, including animal modeling, protein chemistry and computational biology

+ To participate in Genentech post-doctoral training program, which offers outstanding training and mentorship, opportunities to present work internally and externally, career development support and exposure to an environment focused on drug development and breakthrough discoveries.

    Who You Are:

+ Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field, with a proven track record of research accomplishments

+ Must have advanced at least one key research project as evidenced by a first author paper published or accepted in a leading peer-reviewed journal.

+ Independent scientist with outstanding communication and collaboration skills, as well as a strong passion and commitment to science and cancer cell biology.

    Qualifications:

+ Knowledge and hands-on experience in the area of cancer cell biology

+ Working experience with molecular biology, protein chemistry and cell biology techniques.

+ Working experience with _in vivo_ models is a plus

+ Ability to formulate scientific questions and hypotheses

+ Ability to design, perform, interpret and effectively communicate experiments to test these hypotheses

+ Ability to analyze higher dimensional data
