MnDOT is seeking a proven leader to direct the Metro District Transit Section, driving innovation and delivering major transitway projects that connect communities and transform how people travel.
As the Transit Section Director, you will:
+ Lead high-impact projects: Oversee planning, design, construction, and operation of large-scale rail and bus rapid transit initiatives across the Twin Cities in collaboration with external partners.
+ Be the voice of MnDOT: Represent the agency with key partners, including the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Minnesota Legislature, Metropolitan Council/Metro Transit, counties, cities, and commercial railroads.
+ Shape the future of mobility: Guide feasibility studies, alternatives analysis, and establish project offices for upcoming transitway efforts.
+ Collaborate and innovate: Coordinate with Metro District’s Transit Advantages Engineer and internal and external partners to develop transit advantage projects such as park-and-ride facilities, bus-only shoulder lanes, and other transit advantage projects.
+ Lead a talented team: Manage staff and resources to deliver projects that make a real difference for Minnesotans.
This position will office out of Metro District’s Waters Edge building in Roseville, MN or at an off-site project office. The employee will have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
+ **Three years of managerial experience OR four years of professional supervisory experience (i.e., supervising professional staff) in multimodal transportation planning, road or transit project delivery, or multimodal transportation project development.**
+ **Experience managing project, program, or office budgets and collaborating with external partners.**

Preferred Qualifications
+ **Knowledge of regional, state, and federal transit planning and funding frameworks (FTA, FHWA).**
+ **Experience managing large, diverse, cross-functional project teams and strategic initiatives in complex operational or capital environments.**
