Safety Coordinator (Manufacturing) – Day Shift
$22–$24/hr | Kankakee area, IL
**Job Type:** Full-time, Contract (Start with **Kelly Services** for **3–6 months** , with opportunity to be hired on permanently based on performance and business needs)
Shift:** **Mon–Fri | 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

This role sits just below the Safety Manager and is built for someone who’s upbeat, organized, and confident enough to speak up on the floor while staying professional and approachable. You’ll be supported, but you’ll also be trusted to take ownership. If you like a transformative leadership style (clear expectations + coaching + accountability), you’ll fit in well here.

• **Pay:** **$22–$24/hr** (based on experience)

• **Schedule:** **Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM**

What You’ll Do
• Support the Safety Manager with daily safety operations and floor presence
• Help drive a proactive safety culture: coaching, reinforcing standards, and helping teams improve
• Conduct routine safety observations/walkthroughs and document findings
• Assist with incident reporting, basic investigations, and follow-up corrective actions
• Support training coordination (new hire safety orientation, refreshers, toolbox talks)
• Maintain safety records and documentation (logs, checklists, training sign-ins, etc.)
• Assist with PPE compliance, signage, and program support (as assigned)
• Partner with supervisors and employees to remove hazards and improve safe behaviors

What I’m Looking For (Apply Only If You Meet These)
• **1+ year of safety experience** in manufacturing, warehousing, production, or similar environments
• Comfortable being on the floor, speaking with operators/leads, and enforcing standards respectfully
• Strong organization and documentation skills (you keep clean records and close the loop)
• Professional communication style: friendly, direct, and consistent
• Able to stay steady in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively
• Basic computer skills (reports, logs, email, tracking)
Preferred
• OSHA training/certification exposure (OSHA 10/30, etc.)
• Experience supporting incident investigations and safety training delivery
• Familiarity with PPE programs, audits, and corrective action tracking
