    Job Description

    MUST BE PERMANET IN THE PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE

    The DSS Accountability Office (DSS-AO)-IREA is responsible for protecting the integrity of social services programs administered by the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) and ensuring that DSS complies with all statutory, regulatory, and contractual standards.

     

    The Revenue Office is a major component of IREA. It is responsible for the recovery of public assistance benefits paid to current and former participants. The divisions and programs within the Revenue Office seek recovery of outstanding debts owed by participants, New York City employees and from those who received settlements resulting from personal injury lawsuits. The Office also monitors and processes participant budget changes as a result of computer matches where new financial information is uncovered or from referrals from other program areas requiring budgeting action on cases.

     

    Within the Office of Liens & Trusts, the Division of Liens & Recovery (L & R) is responsible for filing liens and negotiating payments on settlements of third-party injury lawsuits and real property liens on primary residences of recipients to obtain reimbursement of Medicaid or Cash Assistance. The unit also processes all inquiries coming into the unit and calculates and asserts Medicaid liens on behalf of the agency.

     

    L & R is recruiting for (1) one Principal Administrative Associate II to function as an Office Manager, who will:

     

    - Perform administrative tasks of varying levels of difficulty. This includes maintaining all logs and lists on behalf of the Office (i.e. telephone contact-trees, staff information, training logs, etc.). Compile attendance rosters, vacation calendars, and organizational charts.

     

    - Assign cases in MAESTRO to Office of Liens and Trust (OLT) /Liens & Recovery (L&R) analysts and Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) attorneys.

     

    - Liaise with OLT partners including General Support Services (GSS), Office of Technology Systems (ITS), Training and the Office of Accountability Executive Office.

     

    - Maintain inventory records of materials and supplies. Track and log receipts for distribution and/or use. Order additional supplies as needed an/or requested.

     

    - Troubleshoot issues for staff and redirect them for assistance (as needed).

     

    - Handle special projects as assigned by Management.

     

    Work location: 4 World Trade Center

     

    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday- 9 am to 5 pm

    Qualifications

    1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or

    2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or

    3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;

    4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.

    Salary Min: $ 61,656.00
