Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Infection Control and Prevention is responsible for all processes that pertain to infectious diseases, including trending, tracking, monitoring and evaluating infection control (IC) parameters as defined by the QRS, CDC, JC, TX DSHS, CMS, NHSN and other accrediting bodies. You will coordinate all aspects of the facility infection control program. You will be directly involved with programs that prevent, and control hospital acquired infections. You will serve as an infection control consultant for facility staff. You will interact with physicians, outside agencies, corporate/divisional staff as well as all departments within the facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and JC standards regarding infection control.

+ You will be responsible for working collaboratively with all hospital staff and physicians regarding infection control issues and compliance.

+ You will conduct ongoing education programs around IC for employees, physicians and volunteers.

+ You will take a proactive approach to Infection Control.

+ You will be responsible for policy and procedures related to IC.

+ You will manage the implementation of IC initiatives.

What qualifications you will need:

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

+ BSN with current Texas license or compact state license.

+ Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within 6 months of hire.

Experience:

+ Five or more years’ experience as an infection control practitioner in the acute care setting.

+ Five or more years’ IC experience in an acute care setting to include supervisory and management experience required.
