About the Role:
As a CBRE Data Center Manager, you will manage the team responsible for providing preventative maintenance and repair services to a large Data Center client.
Lead an integrated team responsible for the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of a mission-critical data center. This position combines facility engineering (UPS, generators, cooling, power distribution) with IT operations (rack/stack, power delivery, deployments, decommissions) to ensure resilient services, efficient capacity, and high client satisfaction. Key objectives include safety, availability, SLA compliance, cost efficiency, and effective stakeholder engagement.
This role is onsite in Ashburn, VA.
This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.
What You’ll Do:
• Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
• Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.
• Manage the relationship with the client while working with other stakeholders to meet all MSA requirements.
• Responsible for ensuring the completion of configuration management, work orders, preventative maintenance, and repairs within the agreed SLA timeframe.
+ Operational Leadership:
+ Ensure uptime and resilience, targeting 99.999% availability for critical systems. Oversee the integration of facilities and IT operations, synchronizing power, cooling, and deployment activities to minimize risk and downtime. Drive automation and continuous improvement to optimize performance, energy efficiency, and incident response.
+ Team Management:
+ Direct all aspects of staffing, onboarding, training, development, and performance management. Establish coverage and cross-training plans. Serve as the primary operational contact for clients and senior stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and rapid escalation of critical issues. Fulfill and document all MSA requirements.
+ Critical Infrastructure:
+ Oversee configuration management, maintenance, and repairs to meet or exceed SLAs. Ensure all infrastructure installations are completed to standard and within agreed timelines. Maintain rigorous change control, method statements, and risk assessments.
+ IT Operations:
+ Manage IT equipment installations, relocations, and decommissions, ensuring compliance with internal and industry standards. Coordinate with IT teams on capacity planning, rack layout, cable management, and physical security. Maintain accurate documentation for all changes.
• Resolve unforeseen circumstances that occur and inform the client or Sr. management when needed.
• Verify facility infrastructure equipment installations are within the agreed SLA timeframe.
• Oversee Information Technology equipment power installations, relocation and decommission requests.
• Check daily routine cleanup of the data halls and review findings.
• Confirm all deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacturer, and industry standards.
• Ensure that all records are updated following any changes made. Ensure that documentation is also kept up to date for all applicable processes.
• Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments and present to Sr. management.
• Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.
• Apply knowledge of own discipline and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.
What You’ll Need:
• Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
+ Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, cooling, BMS/SCADA, fire/life safety) is preferred.
+ Experience with IT deployments and standards-based installations is preferred.
+ Familiarity with ServiceNow and Facility monitoring tools is preferred.
+ Solid understanding of change, configuration, and incident/problem management processes is preferred.
• Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.
• Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance
expectations and handle problems.
• Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
