    Structural Engineer – High‑End Retail Projects (NYC)

    About the Role

    Help shape some of the most recognizable retail environments in New York City and beyond. We’re looking for a Structural Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative setting and is excited to contribute to high‑profile flagship retail projects across Manhattan, New Jersey, and Connecticut. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with principals, architects, and project managers on complex, design‑driven spaces.

     

    What You’ll Do

     

    + Perform structural engineering design and analysis for high‑end retail and flagship store projects.

    + Partner with principals, architects, and project managers to ensure structural systems align with design intent, code requirements, and client expectations.

    + Review drawings, provide markups, and coordinate with drafters to deliver clear technical direction.

    + Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, and project documentation.

    + Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while managing tight deadlines in a dynamic office environment.

    + Conduct occasional site visits to verify existing conditions and support construction‑phase activities.

     

    What We’re Looking For

     

    + 2–5+ years of structural engineering experience.

    + Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, and cold‑formed metal framing systems.

    + Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, RAM, or ETABS, plus familiarity with Revit/AutoCAD workflows.

    + Ability to review drawings and provide accurate, actionable technical guidance.

    + Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple fast‑moving projects.

    + Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.

     

    Bonus Points For

     

    + Experience with high‑end retail or commercial interior projects.

    + Familiarity with NYC building codes, DOB processes, and special inspections.

    + Experience coordinating with contractors and performing field surveys.

    + FE or PE licensure, or active progress toward licensure.

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
