Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
We’re seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Division of Building and Land Development Services (BLDS) in delivering architectural, engineering, cost valuation, environmental planning, and construction support services. This role focuses on reviewing mechanical system designs for new and rehabilitated multi‑family buildings, with a strong emphasis on decarbonization, electrification, and high‑performance building standards.
Key Responsibilities
+ Attend Pre‑Scoping and Design Consultation meetings for DI and non‑DI program projects.
+ Participate in Design Charette and Design Review meetings for DI program initiatives.
+ Review mechanical, plumbing, and electrical plans and contract documents for compliance with industry standards and applicable codes.
+ Ensure all designs meet or exceed energy‑efficient, high‑performance, and low‑carbon requirements.
+ Review scopes of work and mechanical system specifications for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with best practices.
+ Conduct research on mechanical systems, analyze technical documentation, and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
+ Perform periodic site visits and field inspections as needed.
Essential Skills & Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
+ 4+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
+ Commissioning experience.
+ Strong understanding of NEC, local and state codes, and International Building Codes.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD.
+ Experience with HVAC systems in large multifamily and commercial buildings.
Additional Qualifications
+ LEED AP BD+C certification.
+ Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential.
+ Experience working with HPD.
Work Environment
Enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule, with 2–3 days per week in the office and the option to work remotely on other days unless site visits or field work are required. You’ll be part of a fully remote team that meets weekly at a WeWork space, fostering collaboration and connection.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
