Description We are looking for an experienced Property Accountant to join our team on a contract basis, supporting our operations in the dynamic real estate industry. This role is based in Costa Mesa, California, and involves managing financial activities related to commercial property portfolios. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in property accounting and demonstrate proficiency in handling complex reconciliations and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage financial records and transactions for commercial properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Perform CAM reconciliations and analyze variances to maintain proper allocation of costs.
• Execute month-end close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintain and review the general ledger to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Utilize Yardi software to streamline accounting operations and monitor property financials.
• Collaborate with property management teams to provide detailed financial insights.
• Prepare accrual accounting entries and ensure proper allocation of revenue and expenses.
• Generate and present financial reports to stakeholders, highlighting key metrics and trends.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records promptly.
• Assist with audits and provide documentation as required. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably within commercial real estate.
• Proficiency in using Yardi software for property management and accounting tasks.
• Solid understanding of general ledger maintenance and accrual accounting principles.
• Demonstrated expertise in CAM reconciliations and cost allocation.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve discrepancies.
• Excellent organizational abilities to handle month-end close processes efficiently.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
