*Title:* Patient Access Liaison 1 - Norwalk Hospital Oncology - Full time/40 hours, 8-hour shifts, 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.*Summary: *This position performs the registration function for patients entering the health care organization through outpatient and/or Laboratory outreach services. In addition to registration, this position is also responsible for order entry, specimen labeling, and customer service functions.
*Responsibilities:*
1. Responsible for greeting patients promptly and in a friendly manner. Verifies patients in system(s) and provides direction based on review of orders and patient needs. Acknowledges and assists patients with special needs and respects confidentiality.
2. Accurately identifies patient and performs registration functions including obtaining all required information & necessary signatures & consents to aid in securing payment for services rendered. Scans documents as needed. Collects payments, as needed.
3. Acts as a Laboratory customer service representative while providing service. Responds to telephone calls according to customer service standards and directs patients appropriately. Works with scheduling system to ensure patients are cared for in a timely manner.
4. Ensures maximum utilization of resources. Works independently if needed at off-site locations.
5. Enters/releases testing orders in the Cerner LIS and other systems as needed. Reviews orders for accuracy to include but not limited to correct ordering physician, patient location and specimen integrity.
6. Alerts appropriate personnel and follows established protocols in operational situations to prevent crisis & service delays.
7. Maintains records and files on a daily basis, including patient logs & various department activity logs as needed.
8. Promotes and maintains working relationships within a multi-skilled team environment to facilitate team visions & goals/teamwork.
9. Participates in education opportunities, staff meetings & in-services as scheduled. Reviews minutes of meetings not attended.
10. Employee is responsible for following the policies and procedures related to WCHN compliance protocols.
11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
*Education Required:* HS Diploma with minimum of 2 years job related experience. Associate degree with 6 months job-related experience - Preferred.
*Other Information:* Minimum Experience of 1 year preferred in a job-related experience. Basic MS Word & MS Excel. Customer Service and organizational skills. Criteria Desired: National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) certification within one year of hire.
Salary Range: $17.00 - $31.36 hourly
