Overview
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. As a Control System Engineer in the CTO Office of CO+I, you will be responsible for developing new innovative solutions for Microsoft's data centers including operations technology, automation systems, cooling infrastructure and infrastructure systems. You'll be responsible for the design and integration of these through control systems that communicate with production software infrastructure. You will work closely with other engineers and customers to design, prototype, test, and deliver high-quality and reliable solutions that meet the performance, efficiency, and scalability requirements of Microsoft's cloud services.

Responsibilities
+ Design and develop control systems for operations technology and automation applications in datacenter environments.
+ Collaborate with internal and vendor teams to integrate controls into industrial platforms.
+ Ensure that control systems are reliable, safe, efficient, and meet business requirements.
+ Troubleshoot and optimize control systems based on performance feedback.
+ Document and maintain control system specifications and designs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
+ Direct experience designing control systems for industrial automation, manufacturing, process automation, or datacenter applications.
+ **Background Check Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
While not required, we also look for the following **_Preferred Qualifications:_**
+ Familiarity with various software development tools and control platforms.
+ Direct experience with machine design & safety standards.
+ Direct experience with cybersecurity standards for operations technology.
Hardware Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
