    The Radiation Physics Outreach department supports radiation oncology institutions by ensuring accurate and consistent delivery of radiation therapy. Through audits, dosimetry calibration, and technical support, the center plays a critical role in advancing patient safety and treatment quality.

     

    The primary purpose of the Radiological Physics Technician II is to provide semi-professional services in radiological physics, with significant responsibility in specialized procedures such as radioactive isotope handling, external beam treatments, and radiation protection.

     

    The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in physics, radiological science, or a related field, with experience in radiation dosimetry or medical physics support. Familiarity with OSLD/TLD processes, quality assurance protocols, and laboratory equipment maintenance is highly valued. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a technical environment are essential. Previous experience in a clinical or research setting and proficiency with specialized software such as RADS is preferred.

     

    The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, standard business hours.

     

    Hourly breakdown of salary range: Minimum $23.79 - Midpoint $29.81 - Maximum $35.82

    *Key Job Functions:*

    • Read OSLD/TLD and enter sessions into RADS database; confirm bleaching process and maintain depth dose tables.

    • Check OSLD/TLD sessions for physicist review; organize read baskets by priority and dates.

    • Perform weekly irradiation of OSLD and TLD standards and controls; support technician-level testing and commissioning of OSL readers.

    • Communicate with clinical personnel at participating institutions via phone or email regarding audit programs.

    • Serve as backup for shipping and receiving equipment for remote monitoring; prepare documentation for customs and track equipment flow in RADS.

    • Assist with graduate student rotations and training of new personnel in OSLD/TLD lab operations.

    • Clean and maintain OSLD/TLD readers; perform manual repairs when possible and report issues promptly.

    • Support implementation of new scientific projects as assigned by QA Center leadership.

    • Monitor and document unpacking discrepancies and communicate findings to appropriate staff.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    *EDUCATION*

    * Required: Associate's Degree With emphasis in math, physics or related field.

    * Preferred: Bachelor's Degree With emphasis in math, physics or related field.

    *WORK EXPERIENCE*

    * Required: 2 years Research, laboratory or related experience. or

    * Required: With preferred degree, no experience required.

    * Two additional years of experience may substitute for required education.
