Position Overview:
The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performing student evaluations and providing therapy services in accordance with individualized plans of care and physician orders. This role ensures compliance with professional standards and supports student success through collaboration and evidence-based practices.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Active Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in Texas
+ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred (may be required by state/contract)
+ Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
+ Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Caseload & Support:
+ Grade Level: Middle School
+ Caseload: 55–70 students
+ Support: Collaboration with SLPA and campus supervisors
Day-to-Day Duties:
+ Conduct comprehensive evaluations and write FIE reports
+ Plan and deliver individual & group therapy aligned with IEP goals
+ Develop IEP goals and present at ARD meetings
+ Collect and analyze student performance data to document progress
+ Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student success
+ Maintain student records and required documentation
+ Supervise SLPAs or graduate students when assigned
+ Adhere to ASHA & TDLR Code of Ethics in clinical decision-making
