    Senior Project Manager at University of Washington Information Technology (UW-IT)

    About the Role: The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) at UW-IT oversees our project portfolio to ensure alignment with the university’s mission and strategic goals. As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing high-profile, complex projects that impact the entire university and its affiliated organizations.

     

    Impact to the University: This role is critical in enabling UW to support operations for teaching, learning, research, medicine, and business. You will manage projects across diverse technological environments and ensure they are delivered successfully.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Project Management:

     

    Manage complex, cross-organizational projects.

     

    Lead and successfully close a broad range of high-profile projects.

     

    Utilize your extensive IT knowledge, business process analysis, problem-solving skills, and project management expertise.

     

    Ensure projects are delivered within budget, scope, schedule, and quality constraints.

     

    Develop and manage project charters, keep stakeholders informed, and oversee major project contracts.

     

    • Leadership:

    This position necessitates the development and maintenance of robust working relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders:

    Serve as a liaison between units, divisions, and other organizations.

     

    Represent UW-IT in meetings with various stakeholders.

     

    Motivate and manage diverse IT and business project teams.

     

    Provide coaching, mentorship, and training for other project managers as well as other interested parties

     

    Create/update/evolve training materials on project management best practices.

     

    • Governance:

     

    Own the project and portfolio management process execution.

     

    Work with senior leadership to define success and ensure alignment with UW-IT priorities.

     

    Identify areas for continuous improvement for both your project(s) and EPMO processes.

    Requirements:

    Minimum of four years of experience managing progressively more complex IT projects in applications, infrastructure and networking, and comprehensive understanding of the underlying technologies.

     

    Demonstrated project management skills.

     

    Experience with enterprise application development, SDLC processes, Agile and DevOps methodologies, re-engineering and process improvement involving broad-based information systems and utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change.

     

    Experience in deploying large, complex systems implementing business process redesign.

     

    Experience in project and software development lifecycles and corresponding tools such as issue tracking systems, configuration management systems, requirements management systems and project management systems.

     

    Demonstrated ability to manage large technical projects within a team environment.

     

    Ability to manage a diverse range of activities in a very visible and pressured environment, exercising independent judgment in resolving problems.

     

    Demonstrated excellent communication skills, technical documentation skills, communication skills, and personal interaction abilities.

     

    Ability to speak and write about technical and non-technical issues for both technical and non-technical audiences.

     

    Expertise with web publishing, collaboration, database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.

     

    Experience communicating with senior leadership and management through all project processes, during priority setting, and providing project status.

    Desired:

    Education, work experience: Describe education and/or work experience beyond the minimums that would be ‘desirable’ but not required to satisfactorily perform the position’s duties and responsibilities.

     

    Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

     

    Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification

     

    ITIL Foundations V3 certification

     

    Experience in a research university or large enterprise, with both centralized and distributed IT teams

     

    Experience implementing/executing IT governance process.

     

    Equivalent education/experience may substitute for all minimum qualifications.

    $108,504.00 annual

    $162,744.00 annual
