Summary
The Senior Director of Information Technology Services (ITS) is the enterprise technology leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise technology strategy. This role is accountable for enterprise systems and architecture, infrastructure, data, analytics, IT service delivery, and technology modernization. The Senior Director collaborates with executive leadership to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value, operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and long-term scalability in a complex utility environment. This position leads Director-level technology teams and acts as a trusted advisor on innovation, risk, and enterprise priorities. The Senior Director, ITS
ensures technology initiatives support business performance, financial stewardship, and customer outcomes through effective governance and leadership.
What You'll Do
+ Defines and leads a multi-year enterprise IT strategy aligned with organizational strategy and capital planning. Ensures that IT department strategies and processes provide appropriate support to company-wide goals.
+ Serves as the principal technology advisor to executive leadership and governing bodies. Advises executive leadership on technology risk posture and mitigation strategies.
+ Partners with key business stakeholders to understand their needs and identify opportunities for technology-driven innovation. Translates business priorities into scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions.
+ Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems and technology infrastructure.
+ Provides leadership and direction to the IT department and other relevant stakeholders.
+ Manages budgets and resources effectively to ensure the delivery of technology solutions that meet the needs of the business.
+ Stays up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
+ Ensures the availability, performance, and scalability of IT systems and infrastructure to support business operations.
+ Provides executive sponsorship for major enterprise initiatives including ERP modernization and digital transformation.
+ Oversees enterprise architecture standards, technology roadmaps, and integration strategies. Ensures consistency, scalability, and interoperability across applications, platforms, and infrastructure.
+ Promotes data-driven decision-making across leadership and operational teams.
+ Establishes enterprise IT governance, decision-rights, and investment oversight frameworks.
+ Oversees technology portfolio management, prioritization, and resource allocation.
+ Oversees contract negotiations with IT vendors, contractors and service providers. Drives cost optimization and return on investment across IT spend.
+ Provides executive oversight for IT operations, infrastructure, applications, and service management. Ensures reliable, secure, and high-availability services supporting 24/7 utility operations.
+ Drives continuous improvement and operational maturity.
+ Leads, develops, and mentors large IT teams and leaders. Builds a succession plans and leadership pipelines for critical ITS roles.
+ Leads change management for enterprise technology initiatives.
+ Performs other duties as assigned to support the success of the team and organization.
Education
A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is required.
What It Takes To Succeed:
+ A minimum of 15 years of experience is required.
+ Master’s degree or equivalent executive education preferred
+ Experience in utility, energy, or public sector is preferred.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail
+ Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
+ Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
+ Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
+ Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
+ Strong understanding of current and emerging technologies and their potential impact on the business
+ Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure the delivery of high-quality technology solutions
+ Excellent ability to conceptualize long-term business goals and develop orderly processes to accomplish those goals.
+ Thorough understanding of information technology and information technology systems.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications
Recognized certifications related to the role are preferred.
Travel to SRP field and office locations in the Phoenix metro area is required based on business and operational needs.
This leadership role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, which requires at least two days onsite (office or worksite) per workweek. Director-level and above positions are generally expected to maintain a greater on-site presence to fulfill leadership responsibilities. A consistent on-site presence is essential to support executive collaboration, leadership visibility, team engagement, key meetings, and critical organizational initiatives. In-office requirements are driven by business and operational needs and may vary over time.
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
