Job Summary
Dr. Erica Twardzik'sCenter For Inclusive Mobility Environments (CIME) (https://www.kines.umich.edu/research/labs-centers/center-inclusive-mobility-environments-cime) at the University of MichiganSchool of Kinesiology (https://www.kines.umich.edu/) seeks a dedicated and highly organized Research Coordinator to support an innovative research portfolio focused on enhancing mobility and accessibility for older adults and people aging with or into disability. The Research Coordinator will play a vital role in the coordination and daily management of multiple research initiatives examining how social and environmental factors, including public transit and universal design, influence physical activity, social participation, and health outcomes.
This position will collaborate closely with the principal investigator, multidisciplinary researchers, community partners, and study participants to ensure the highest standards of research quality, integrity, and inclusivity. Responsibilities will include facilitating research project design, data collection and management, analysis, and supporting dissemination of findings. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, thrive in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate a passion for advancing equitable mobility solutions.
The Research Coordinator will also be integral to fostering partnerships, organizing logistical components of studies, and navigating complex ethical and regulatory requirements in accordance with University of Michigan's policies. Responsibilities*
Essential Functions are noted with an "EF"
Initial responsibilities will include:
+ Develop project schedules and determine resources needed to meet deadlines (20%) EF
+ Organize, prioritize, and communicate status of work and projects (20%) EF
+ Facilitate team meetings (create meeting agendas, organize meeting minutes) and track progression of project specific timelines (10%) EF
Other responsibilities will include:
+ Assist with IRB regulatory management and maintain research protocols and data consistent with IRB standards (10%) EF
+ Supervise and assist student research team members by monitoring their progress on assigned tasks (20%) EF
+ Oversee adherence to data use agreements (10%)
+ Other duties as assigned (10%)

+ Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

+ Demonstrated ability to facilitate research team meetings
+ Demonstrated attention to detail in maintaining accurate research records and ensuring data integrity.
Required Qualifications*
+ Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, health services, rehabilitation sciences, urban planning, or a related field.
+ At least 1 to 2 years of experience coordinating research projects or similar work in academic or healthcare settings.
+ Experience supporting research regulatory requirements, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol management.
+ Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn, data use agreements and research data stewardship.
+ Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace) and project management tools.
+ Proven success with contributing to a positive workplace culture, and ability to consistently demonstrate our school'score values (https://www.kines.umich.edu/about/mission-values-leadership) .
Desired Qualifications*
+ Master's degree or graduate-level coursework in a relevant field.
+ Experience organizing or supporting research teams in an academic environment.
+ Prior research experience with public health, disability, aging, urban mobility, or related topics.
+ Comfortable with or willing to learn research software, data management platforms, or basic statistical packages.
+ Experience preparing research materials for reports, publications, or presentations.
+ Familiarity with University of Michigan research processes and policies.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Additional Information
This is a term-limited appointment, funded for 3 years; the initial appointment may be extended depending on the availability of research funds and successful performance. The salary range for this position is $47,000 - $55,000, commensurate with education and experience, and eligibility to participate in the school's 2026 merit program. An offer may be extended outside the general salary range shared in this posting based on equity, experience, knowledge, and skills for this role. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor understanding and transparency throughout the recruiting process.
This is an onsite position, with the potential to transition to hybrid/remote work after initial familiarization with lab procedures, space, and equipment. Candidates interested in hybrid/remote work should indicate this to the hiring manager during the recruiting process.
