A Typical Day

Business Support Controls Manager is a strategic leader, centered on risk strategy, control environment enhancement, and overall project management. Serves as the compliance liaison between Supervisor and department management to execute regulatory exams and internal audits, overseeing the drafting of official compliance responses, and strategically directing complex, multi-stage process changes and remediation plans to ensure sustained adherence to legal and regulatory mandates.

The Business Support Controls Manager will:

+ Manages independently, assesses and mitigates high-impact risks within the servicing department, including strategic decision-making and authorization of solutions, going beyond just documenting risks

+ May manage a team of Business Control Specialists including day-to-day guidance, scheduling, performance management, and quality control over the specialists' work

+ Drive the continuous improvement and enhancement of the servicing control environment focused on systemic changes and elevated standards, not just maintaining the status quo

+ Lead the crucial effort to collaborate effectively with other servicing lines of business to identify, address, and resolve control deficiencies that requires cross-functional leadership and decision-making authority to implement solutions that span different departments

+ Manage ad hoc projects including all aspects of regulatory, state, and investor exams and/or audits, remediation and process changes

+ Perform other related duties as required and assigned

What You’ll Bring

+ 5+ years of extensive and progressive experience in internal controls, internal audit, risk management, or a related field, with a proven track record of success

+ Technical proficiency in regulatory compliance matters and regulations

+ Ability to analyze and assess risk based on potential impact to Pennymac for non-compliance

+ Proficient in Word, Excel and Power Point

+ Must be a team player with strong attention to detail and able to work independently requiring minimum supervision

+ Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment

+ Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills and sound judgment

+ Financial Services and, if possible, mortgage industry experience preferred

+ Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to present results to senior management

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:

+ Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role

+ Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role

+ Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role

Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
