Ford Underbody Systems Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to supervise a team of Design Engineers delivering the needed Quality performance of products in the field for the Global Driveline Organization. Deliverables include executing defined product development projects to remedy quality issues in the field, working with Service engineering to reduce our Cost-per-Repair, and leading quality metrics at our in-house Axle Manufacturing assembly plant. These assemblies include Axles (Front & Rear), Driveshafts, Halfshafts, Disconnect Devices, Transfer Cases, and associated components.
This key role within the Ford Driveline Engineering Department requires a dynamic and flexible individual that can handle multiple projects in different phases, to support key quality objectives for the Global Driveline Organization. The metrics that encompass your objective will be total repairs per 1000 vehicles, Cost-Per-Repair targets.
What you'll do...
+ Manage team of 7-9 engineers, owning the Quality performance for all Driveline parts.
+ Key technical hardware oversight of the Driveline system, including close interface with the calibration, Transmission, NVH, and chassis organizations.
+ Close interface with our supply base engineering teams on key strategic initiatives on quality.
+ You will interact with the Application Engineering teams to ensure key projects are identified from field performance, and those defined projects are given to your team to execute.
+ Oversight on quality metrics is also important, and you will be asked to utilize our continually improving Quality toolsets for gathering trends and validating fixes.
You'll have...
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
6+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge. Other Underbody commodity experience will be considered.
4+ years of experience with plant, manufacturing, launch experience, tooling knowledge, experience in all phases of product development.
Even better, you may have...
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
8+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge.
Experience with GPDS and other Ford engineering tools (TeamCenter, WERS, FEDE, etc.).
Experience in a leadership capacity leading and guiding others.
One Ford Behavior, ability to work cross-functionally, build team consensus.
Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.

This position is a range of salary grades LL6.
