This role serves as a Web Engineer within Truist’s Middleware Services team, operating under limited supervision. Responsibilities include designing, integrating, installing, testing, and configuring solutions across Web Engineering product areas, as well as developing standards, procedures, and processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Additional duties include building and implementing new solutions, supporting existing systems, performing maintenance and upgrades, and serving as the primary escalation point for incidents and problems. Candidates should have intermediate-level expertise in administration, design, and security for web and related technologies. This technical role may require off-shift, on-call, and weekend work.
The infrastructure includes web services such as ISVA, IIS, HTTP, .NET, Tomcat, Apache, WebSphere, LDAP, and OpenShift, supporting both on-premises and cloud environments. On-premises implementations utilize VM-based solutions or OpenShift-based containerized (IaaS) deployments, while cloud implementations are hosted on AWS or Azure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Resolves complex problems spanning multiple infrastructure and security designs related to Middleware components; support the project lifecycle as required.
2. Leads development of integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions to ensure specifications are flexible, scalable, and maintainable and meet architectural standards.
3. Consult on business requirements and functional specifications for infrastructure and security designs related to Middleware components; support the project lifecycle as required.
4. Collaborate with Project Management, Application Teams, and CT&O teams to design and implement Middleware solutions, including VM-based and containerized platforms using Helm charts, reusable templates, and GitOps-driven CI/CD workflows.
5. Serve as a technical expert throughout implementation and maintenance, partnering with technology teams and business leaders to resolve escalated issues.
6. Provide expertise in troubleshooting complex SIT and UAT for cross-functional application initiatives.
7. Advise on best practices, strategies, and architectures to ensure software solutions align with industry standards throughout the product lifecycle.
8. Participate in building proof-of-concept (POC) solutions.
9. Mentor team members by sharing knowledge of methodologies, policies, standards, and controls.
10. Offer expert recommendations on design options, risks, costs, and benefits, and define interfaces and methods required to support software solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
2. Five to seven years of experience in software development or a related field
3. Five to seven years of experience in database technologies
4. Five to seven years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
2. Five to seven years of IT experience developing and implementing business systems within an organization
3. Five to seven years of experience working with defect or incident tracking software
4. Five to seven years of experience writing technical documentation in a software development environment
5. Infrastructure as code skills leveraging Gitlab based pipelines.
6. Advanced automation skills in Terraform and/or Ansible.
7. Amazon (AWS) experience.
