    This Opportunity

     

    kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP USA company, is seeking a Security Designer to join our team in a hybrid role, working out of any WSP office nationally. This position will focus on hands-on design, technical leadership, and team development within our Security discipline.

    Your Impact

    + Lead and mentor a team of Security Designers.

    + Design Electronic Physical Security systems and coordinate with other design team members on all aspects of security related to projects, including CPTED, site security, gates, guard booths, doors, and door hardware.

    + Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D BIM Models using Revit or equivalent BIM program.

    + Design low voltage systems for buildings, including Electronic Access Control, Video Security Systems, Intrusion, intercom, and supporting network infrastructure.

    + Develop Division 28 Security specifications.

    + Provide guidance and industry best practices for cyber hardening of network-connected electronic security devices.

    + Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control of design packages, insisting on the highest standard of quality.

    + Independently support the team during design and construction stages of projects.

    + Mentor and train junior designers, with a focus on PSP certification attainment.

    + Lead Security design processes, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed kW|WSP standards and deadlines.

    + Provide technical and advisory support to both internal teams and external clients.

    + Conduct site visits and site walks as necessary to support project delivery.

    + Integrate project requirements into mission critical facility designs.

    + Attend and represent the Security discipline in internal and client-facing meetings.

    + Implement best practice procedures and drive continuous improvement.

    + Build bridges across teams, coordinating proactively with other disciplines to prevent rework and schedule delays.

    Who You Are

    + Highly experienced in Physical Security System Design, with a strong background in Revit and AutoCAD.

    + Proven track record of mentoring and training team members, especially towards PSP certification.

    + Strong communication skills and an interest in liaising with internal and external design, client, and construction team members.

    + Demonstrates kW’s leadership principles: client-first engineering, end-to-end ownership, deep attention to detail, gold-standard quality, and cross-team collaboration.

    + Committed to innovation, continuous learning, and delivering measurable results.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree (BS) with 10-12 years of relevant experience; OR a high school diploma and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

    + PSP certification (must have).

    + Experience with applicable software packages including AutoCAD, Revit.

    + Demonstrated experience mentoring or training others toward PSP certification.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    + Attention to detail, highly organized, self-starter.

    + Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

    + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Mission Critical/Data Center experience.

    + Experience with international projects.

    + Hands-on field experience.

     

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

     

    Expected Salary: $138,000 - $205,000

     

    WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.

    Reporting Structure:

    Reports to VP of ICT.

    Work Arrangement:

    Hybrid role, working out of any WSP office nationally. Site visits/site walks as necessary.
