    As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - Inpatient Neurology at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, you will provide advanced, decentralized clinical pharmacy care within one of the nation's leading neuroscience programs. Embedded across neurology, neurosurgery, stroke and epilepsy services you will partner closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses and multidisciplinary care teams to support high-acuity, complex neurologic patients. This role plays a critical part in Comprehensive Stroke Center operations, responding to stroke activations, supporting thrombolytic therapy and participating in daily interdisciplinary rounds. You will also manage medication therapy for diverse neurosurgical populations, including spine, cerebrovascular, tumor, epilepsy and movement disorder patients, through clinical review, therapeutic monitoring, medication reconciliation and order set optimization. Working within small, highly collaborative care teams, this position offers the opportunity to influence patient outcomes at scale while practicing in a communication-driven, academically focused environment.

     

    A caregiver in this position works primarily day shift. Requirements include every 8th weekend with approximately 8 weeks of evening shifts per year. Holiday requirements one per year.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients in service responsibility in a routine, continuous manner, considering the age and clinical condition of each patient.

    + Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and, and other health care professionals.

    + Support clinical pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction, and formal educational programs.

    + Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities.

    + Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses, and physicians in pharmacotherapy within in the specialty area.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy and completion of a post-graduate residency or fellowship training

    + Specialty residency (is required, if hired for a specialty area where specialty residency training is available)

    + Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire

    + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire (For individuals required to administer immunizations)

    + Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. For caregivers required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest, this is required within one year of hire

    + Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) and 2 years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring including 50% or more of time spent in the specialty area OR 4 years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring including 50% or more of time spent in the specialty area

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Board certification

    **Physical Requirements** :

    + Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.

    + Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

    + Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.

    + Must have normal or corrected vision.

    + Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

    **Personal Protective Equipment** :

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00

     

    Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic's benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
