    The Maintenance Mechanic will support the Portland, OR, CertainTeed production line, manufacturer of asphalt roofing shingles. The mechanic will select and properly use all hand tools and stationary power tools, including power saws, welders, etc., as well as diagnose and repair most plant equipment (pumps, gear boxes, rollers, bearings, motors, conveyors, etc.).

    Responsibilities Include:

    Basic welding and fabrication

     

    - Changing out worn motors, gear reducers, bearings, etc.

     

    - Lubricate and maintain conveyers

     

    - Troubleshooting production manufacturing equipment

     

    - Other plant maintenance responsibilities as needed

     

    - Maintain housekeeping practices and support 5S and cleanliness initiatives

    - Other plant maintenance responsibilities as needed

    **Shift/Schedule:** During the training period, this position will be assigned to first shift (6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.). There are three total shifts: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. Assignment to a specific shift after training is not guaranteed and will be made in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

    Qualifications

    - High School Diploma or GED Required

     

    - Basic computer skills, including MS office and window

     

    - Understands basic pneumatic and hydraulic systems and theory

     

    - Ability to learn and use applicable CMMS systems for scheduling / completing work orders (SAP)

     

    - Must be able to read and interpret blueprint and layout drawings

     

    - If you have a current LME license or a journeyman maintenance millwright certification through a state of Oregon recognized program.

    - Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.

    Certain states require pay information to be provided in job postings. The base pay offered for this position starts at $32.82, and may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.

     

    In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is a percentage of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
