In conjunction with Service Area CFO, the Vice President of Acute Care Finance provides strategic and operational leadership and direction in the development and implementation of the financial management of the acute care hospitals of THNY. The VP will collaborate with leadership within other divisions’ budgeting, accounting and revenue cycle functions for THNY in producing consolidated results, projections and other deliverables as requested. Develops and executes both short- and long-term financial management plans/strategies which will enable the Acute Care Divisions to maximize the potential of their financial resources to meet changes in health care economics and achieve organizational objectives for the acute care entities. Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team(s) participating in both operations and strategy development, planning and decision-making as it impacts the acute care operations.
Employed by Trinity Health and reports to the Service Area CFO with dotted line relationships to acute care hospital leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions of Trinity Health.
In collaboration with the Regional Controller and Service Area CFO, provides leadership and insights in the planning and integration of financial services activities including financial management, budgeting, accounting and revenue cycle; ensures fiscal responsibility and performance for acute care entities within the region, provides leadership and oversight of acute care finance directors and managers as necessary.
In conjunction with the Service Area CFO, oversees the planning, development and implementation of the acute care entities' annual operating and capital budgetary plan recommending and advising actions to achieve financial stewardship goals established for the entire RHM and Trinity Health. Reviews all department requests for capital expense items, remodeling projects, FTEs, supplies and other operating expenses, and submits the same, with recommendations, to the acute care Presidents.
Prepares consolidated capital budgets for THNY, inclusive of input from other divisions. Works proactively with strategy, clinical engineering, and facilities (operations and planning and construction) to ensure long-term strategic goals are captured within capital planning efforts and submissions are complete and accurate based on the information known upon submission.
Prepares consolidated operating budget/forecasts for THNY, leveraging other divisions’ output into a consolidated set of financial outputs for the RHM in collaboration with the Service Area CFO.
Collaborates with the other Senior Finance Team members as needed in regard to Accounting, Disbursements, Decision Support, Labor Stabilization and Capital operations. Collaborates with System Office Revenue Excellence and Regional Revenue Cycle Director for identified revenue cycle initiatives for acute care facilities. Participates in the annual 360-degree feedback process as appropriate.
Participates with the Service Area CFO and their designees in the development of Regional Financial Policies. Supports the Finance Committee of the Board and Executive Board as necessary. Develops and submits timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, reports, and other items to the Service Area CFO and divisional Presidents.
Collaborates with the other Senior Finance Team members in development and recommendations for regional fiscal and accounting systems, policies and procedures, and management reporting in accordance with the policies and directives of the Finance Committee and generally accepted accounting principles as it applies to acute care entities. Recommends changes to the Acute Care Division fiscal and administrative policies to carry out the objectives of THNY as needed.
Responsible for monthly ET-9 or OEI reporting for THNY. Collaborates with acute care Directors, Presidents and Senior Leadership Teams for development of initiatives to meet targets provided. Leverages ideas across geographies and divisions as appropriate.
Serves as a member of the Acute Care Senior Leadership Teams participating in the development and implementation of the acute care strategic plans and operational programs. Provides counsel and advice on financial matters affecting the operations and/or strategic direction of the respective hospitals. Maintains an awareness of market operations identifying present and potential problems and opportunities for acute care entities and making appropriate recommendations to the acute care Presidents. Coordinates special projects and assignments as directed by the respective acute care President. Assures acute care strategies and operations are integrated and supportive of the entire RHM's and Trinity Health's strategies and financial sustainability.
Ensures assigned functions are in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and accrediting agency requirements; initiates corrective action as necessary. Collaborates with Trinity Health system office to provide input to Federal and State legislators related to the development of policies and regulations that will favorably impact financial reimbursement to acute care entities.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field. Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or related field or CPA preferred.
Ten or more (10+) years of progressively more responsible related work experience including five (5) or more years of experience as the VP Finance in a health care organization.
An extensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of finance, healthcare operations, information systems and management.
Strong financial, analytical, cost control skills, and critical thinking skills necessary to conceptualize ideas in an unstructured, fast-paced, dynamic and multifunctional environment requiring creativity, innovation, foresight, and mature judgment.
Leadership and management skills necessary to work effectively within a system, influence results, motivate individuals and teams, and resolve problems in a diplomatic professional manner.
Excellent relationship, oral and written communication, persuasion, negotiation and presentation skills. The incumbent must be able to clearly articulate factual and advisory information to all levels of staff, executives, the boards of directors, and others, and garner related support.
Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Willingness to operate in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
