    Summary This position is located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Health Affairs (OASW(HA)). The ASW (HA) is the principal medical staff advisor to the Secretary of War and is the principal program manager for all Department of War (Do W) health matters, including medical readiness, health care delivery and preventive medicine, medical military construction, and the procurement, development, training, and retention of medical military and civilian personnel. Responsibilities Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Provides expert counsel on developing and overseeing policies critical to a robust and reliable medical industrial base (MIB) that directly supports the Military Health System (MHS). Shapes strategies to strengthen the network of organizations researching, developing, manufacturing, and distributing the medical products and services essential for warfighter health and readiness as well as public health needs. Conducts comprehensive assessments of the U.S. and allied MIB, analyzing capacity, vulnerabilities, dependencies on foreign sourcing, and surge capacity readiness. Advocates for policies designed to facilitate the expedited development, regulatory approval, and strategic deployment of medical countermeasures MCMs, encompassing vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics. Possessing in-depth expertise and practical experience within the Medical Industrial Base (MIB) and healthcare systems. Identifying potential improvements and developing a supportive business case to demonstrate innovation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
