Director Clinical Labs

Directs the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Departments within the Medical Center Medical Laboratories. Responsibilities include effective resource utilization, program and policy development, implementation and evaluation. As a member of the Medical Laboratories leadership team, the individual demonstrates clinical expertise and will be involved in continuous quality improvement, customer service, resource and financial management, efficient and effective system processes and professional development. Will partner with Faculty and Medical Center Management efficiently and effectively.
+ Knowledge of financial and information systems affecting laboratory services
+ Able to think globally and act strategically on behalf of the laboratory operation and meet hospital expectations of excellent customer service
+ Able to recruit and retain employees and develop others as part of succession planning
+ Work with LIS to ensure laboratory system supports and enhances department operations
+ Oversee appropriateness and implementation plans for new capital and operating budget requests
+ Partner with Faculty and Medical Center Management efficiently and effectively.
+ Knowledge of regulatory and quality improvement requirements related to Clinical and/or Anatomic Pathology and other Lab Services.
+ Ensure efficient provision of services and implement quality and operational initiatives
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
**Education:** Bachelor’s Degree with completion of a NAACLS approved MLS/CLS/HTL or equivalent program required. Master’s Degree in Business or related field, preferred.
**Experience:** Minimum of 5 years of increasing managerial and leadership experience in a complex health care environment required.
**Licensure:** MLS/CLS or categorical, CT, HTL, PA, ASCP or equivalent. May require a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
The starting base rate for this role is $150,000.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
