POSITION TITLE
Outside Sales Representative / Regional Sales Manager
ROLE OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for driving revenue growth within an assigned geographic territory by identifying, developing, and expanding sales opportunities in alignment with established business and quality objectives. The role requires building and sustaining strong relationships with both existing and prospective customers while ensuring a consistent, professional, and measurable market presence. The individual will also contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to customer service and internal business processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Territory Growth
+ Proactively identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
+ Build and maintain a strong network of contacts and referral sources to generate new sales leads.
+ Provide regular territory sales forecasts and contribute to overall sales planning efforts.
Customer Engagement & Account Management
+ Establish and maintain relationships with customers at multiple organizational levels.
+ Engage with customers and prospects to understand their needs and recommend appropriate products or services.
+ Present and demonstrate product or service functionality based on customer-specific requirements.
+ Maintain ongoing communication with current and former customers regarding new offerings, enhancements, or solutions of interest.
+ Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through consistent follow-up and issue resolution after the sale.
Market Intelligence & Internal Communication
+ Communicate relevant market insights to sales leadership, including pricing trends, competitive activity, and broader market conditions.
+ Use available resources to identify, qualify, and target potential customers while growing existing accounts.
+ Experience with bar steel highly preferred
Reporting & Administrative Duties
+ Maintain accurate and detailed records of sales activity, including customer interactions, orders, lost business, and relationship challenges.
+ Complete required documentation such as call reports, territory reports, opportunity lists, quote logs, and travel itineraries on a regular basis.
+ Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
+ Ability to travel 50-75% of the time to all parts of the Northeast united states
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, colleagues, and partners.
+ Proven ability to build productive working relationships and influence across a variety of stakeholders.
+ High level of initiative, self-motivation, and comfort engaging new contacts independently.
+ Ability to work remotely using company business systems and technology tools.
+ Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory in a cost-effective manner.
+ Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
+ Reliable and consistent attendance during assigned business hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a comparable field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of successful inside and/or outside sales experience.
+ Proficiency with standard business software applications, including word processing, email, and spreadsheets, and the ability to learn internal systems.
POSITION DETAILS
+ **Compensation:** $65K - $85K/yr. base + up to 10% annual bonus + profit sharing
