Job Title: Composite Fabricator
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Composite Fabricator to join our team at an aerospace and defense company that designs and manufactures unmanned aerial vehicles. This role involves collaborating closely with technicians and vendors/suppliers in the fabrication of tooling, structures, and components using a variety of materials.
Responsibilities
+ Follow design drawing instructions and written process instructions.
+ Collaborate with Engineering in performing fabrication and assembly tasks, as well as resolving tooling issues.
+ Fabricate tooling, fixtures, and jigs from one or more materials.
+ Operate hand and power tools (e.g., jitterbug, dotco) for cutting or trimming as required.
+ Work with materials to perform bonding/curing (e.g., thermal plastic, rubber, resins, adhesives) in the experimental layup process as needed.
+ Use precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, scales, micrometers) to verify work performed.
+ Adhere to all safety requirements.
+ Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, following established procedures on routine work.
+ Apply acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks under minimal supervision.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 0.5 – 2 years hands-on composite fabrication experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of layup processes.
+ Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (i.e., micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.).
+ Experienced in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
+ Demonstrated computer proficiency and ability to download work instructions as applicable.
+ Experience using hand and power tools (i.e., jitterbug, dotco).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Competency in calculation of math dimensions working with sample parts, sketches, and/or verbal instructions for fabricating details as required.
+ Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where small teams share a broad variety of duties.
+ Strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives.
+ Ownership and responsibility for current and past work products.
+ Experience with electronics, troubleshooting, soldering, wiring, and assembly work is advantageous.
+ Ability to train with a good attitude and skills in hand tools, assembly, wire harness, crimping, and medical device assembly.

Work Environment
The work schedule follows a 9/80 model, offering every other Friday off, with the potential need to work on Saturdays. The standard shift is from Monday to Friday, 1st shift (5:30 AM - 4:00 PM), with the exact start time to be determined. Example schedule: Week 1 (Mon-Thu: 5:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Fri: OFF), Week 2 (Mon-Thu: 5:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Fri: 5:30 AM - 3:00 PM).

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petaluma, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
