Job Title: Feed Mill Technician I
Job Description
The Feed Mill Technician I plays a vital role in the team, responsible for grain testing and the manual addition of feed ingredients following operating procedures. The technician will gain exposure to inventory management, equipment maintenance, repair, and operation, as well as housekeeping activities. Compliance with company, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct grain testing including DON testing, dockage, moisture, bushel weight, and foreign material analysis.
+ Perform 'hand-adds', accurately recording medication and vitamin usage.
+ Develop a foundational understanding of animal nutrition and the interaction of ingredients with milling and grinding processes.
+ Maintain cleanliness and perform routine housekeeping of the mill.
+ Perform general mechanical duties as required.
+ Utilize and understand systems such as Laserfiche, The Wenger System, and WEM as appropriate.
+ Manage ingredient and inventory, ensuring bag inventories are maintained, stacked, and orderly.
+ Complete required training in a timely manner.
+ Perform additional duties as determined by supervisory staff.
Essential Skills
+ Experience as a machine operator in a production environment.
+ Ability to manually feed ingredients into machinery and monitor them.
+ Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
+ Proficiency in inventory checks and management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
+ Background in agriculture through education or experience preferred.
+ Knowledge of feed manufacturing equipment operation and maintenance is advantageous.
+ Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment.
+ Valid fork-lifting certificate or willingness to obtain within the first 12 months.
+ Willingness to work overtime, any shift, including weekends.
+ Ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
+ Ability to operate heavy machinery for items over 100 lbs.
+ Comfortable working in confined spaces and dusty conditions.
Work Environment
Work at a poultry and swine feed manufacturer, which can be dusty and have the smell of animal feed. The work is performed in shifts: 2nd shift from 2 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Friday, and a weekend shift from 6 PM to 7 AM, Friday through Sunday. Shift differentials apply: $2/hr for 2nd and 3rd shifts, and $3/hr for weekend shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shippensburg, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.75 - $26.75/hr.
