We are seeking a talented Body Structure Engineer to design and develop body (floor) structures in CAD and support prototype builds. This role involves concept generation, mock-ups, and overseeing prototype, design verification, and process verification builds. You will be responsible for planning design, procurement, assembly, and validation requirements, ensuring alignment with overall project timing and deliverables. The ideal candidate will ensure that designs meet quality and cost targets, propose cost-effective alternatives, and support design commonization efforts. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and leading design reviews is essential to ensure comprehensive design considerations.
Responsibilities
+ Design and develop body (floor) structures using CAD software.
+ Support prototype builds through concept generation and mock-ups.
+ Oversee all prototype, design verification, and process verification builds.
+ Plan and manage design, procurement, assembly, and validation requirements, aligning with project timelines and deliverables.
+ Ensure designs conform to quality and cost targets; suggest low-cost alternatives.
+ Support design commonization efforts.
+ Collaborate in the design of body structure fixtures.
+ Lead design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Portfolio, to ensure comprehensive design considerations.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field.
+ Experience with structural design.
+ Experience with sheet metal.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 5 years’ work experience in automotive body structures design is preferred.
+ Previous assembly plant launch experience is preferred (ground up design).
+ Experience with joining methods such as welding.
+ Understanding of Dimensional Management and GD&T is preferred.
Work Environment
The role requires onsite work at the Winamac facility, collaborating closely with product development engineers. The company specializes in making vehicles wheelchair accessible and is currently working on converting SUVs, such as the Chevy Traverse. Benefits include a 5% 401k match and an annual bonus of 5-10% based on company performance.

This is a Permanent position based out of Winamac, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

They are a large national company with multiple sites nationwide They are making major facility upgrades and automation upgrades. Their will be a variety of ways to build a variety skillsets that you can use to grow internally or take with you. They will give you automotive experience and manufacturing for consumer products as well. They have a company 401k match up to 40%. Good work environement. Ability to move up to different levels of senior engineering (categories 1-7) Through Actalent, you will have access to 2 weeks of PTO and 6 paid holidays that we provide in your first year that you can use in the entirety of 2023.
