Job Title: Diagnostic Test Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Test Engineer to develop and implement comprehensive test procedures that ensure the proper functioning of vehicle systems and diagnostic reporting. This role focuses on validating the triggering of the Check Engine Light and ensuring compliance with emissions standards.

Responsibilities

+ Develop comprehensive test procedures to validate the proper triggering of the Check Engine Light across vehicle systems.

+ Define and implement enable conditions, test logic, boundary conditions, and decision logic for fault detection.

+ Ensure vehicle systems collect relevant environmental and operational data (e.g., temperature, altitude, speed) upon fault activation.

+ Validate that diagnostic systems correctly identify and report fault codes, such as accurate P-codes for transmission sensor failures.

+ Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure diagnostic tests are robust and aligned with customer requirements.

+ Ensure all diagnostic data and procedures meet CARB compliance standards.

+ Work cross-functionally with teams at various locations, including Chelsea Proving Grounds and Chrysler Tech Center.

+ Utilize control systems knowledge and MATLAB modeling to support logic development and validation.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with test equipment and emissions testing.

+ Proficiency in test engineering, including test procedure writing and test plan development.

+ Knowledge of diagnostic testing, powertrain systems, and emissions testing.

+ Ability to troubleshoot issues related to GPF performance and emissions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Conduct engine dynamometer and vehicle road tests to evaluate GPF performance and overall emissions compliance.

+ Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, correlations, and areas for improvement.

+ Utilize simulation tools to predict GPF performance and optimize calibration strategies.

+ Prepare clear and concise technical reports and documentation.

Work Environment

The candidate will be working onsite at the Chelsea proving grounds. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engine controls, emissions, and aftertreatment engineers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chelsea, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
