Structural Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of design experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in designing steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures, strong proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD, and finite element design tools (such as Bluebeam), and a proven ability to deliver high-quality designs for commercial and industrial buildings.
You will play a key role in notable projects, including:
+ A 5-story concrete hotel with commercial space in Riverhead, NY
+ A new two-story science museum
+ Ongoing commercial and industrial projects throughout the NYC/Long Island region
This position is best suited for a technically proficient engineer who is comfortable owning design packages, collaborating across disciplines, and working closely with project managers and clients.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and support structural design for commercial and industrial buildings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
+ Perform analysis and design for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures and components.
+ Prepare construction documents, calculations, specifications, and detailed drawings.
+ Utilize AutoCAD, STAAD, and finite element analysis tools (e.g., Bluebeam) to produce accurate designs and documentation.
+ Conduct site visits, structural assessments, and field observations; resolve RFIs and coordinate with contractors during construction.
+ Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders (architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients) to ensure coordinated, buildable solutions.
+ Support budgeting, scheduling, and project delivery milestones; maintain quality control across all deliverables.
+ Contribute to code reviews, design optimizations, and technical standards; mentor junior staff where applicable.
Qualifications
+ 5+ years of structural engineering design experience in the commercial and industrial sectors.
+ Strong proficiency in the design of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures.
+ EIT certification required; PE licensure is a plus (or active pursuit).
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD and STAAD; experience with finite element design software and Bluebeam for markups and QA/QC.
+ Solid understanding of applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, NDS, and local requirements).
+ Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports, calculations, and coordinated construction documents.
+ Strong communication skills with proven experience in client coordination and multi‑disciplinary collaboration.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field; Master’s in Structural Engineering is a plus.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of West Islip, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
