Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to provide support in the design and development of high-reliability mechanical systems. This includes developing concepts, evaluating them for performance, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications. The role involves guiding systems from development through production, including prototyping, testing, and commissioning. You will serve as a bridge between the design and test engineering teams, working partly onsite at both locations.
Responsibilities
+ Develop mechanical and physical concepts for high-reliability products and facilities with a focus on safety.
+ Coordinate with key stakeholders to identify and document applicable requirements, interfaces, and design criteria.
+ Perform structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other calculations to ensure systems meet technical requirements.
+ Develop innovative mechanical solutions for pressure vessels, piping, electromechanical systems, and mechatronics.
+ Assess mechanical systems for manufacturability and integration considerations.
+ Develop Verification and Validation (V&V) plans and support toolset qualification.
+ Conduct mechanical testing and validation efforts to ensure high reliability, including data analysis and test procedure development.
Essential Skills
+ Hands-on experience with hardware and the product development lifecycle through to production.
+ Experience in highly regulated industries such as aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or defense electronics.
+ Mechanical component-level design experience with high-pressure vessels, fluid systems, and advanced mechanisms.
+ Proficiency in CAD and PLM software like UG/NX, Solidworks, or CREO/Pro-Engineer.
+ Hands-on mechanical testing and troubleshooting experience.
+ Familiarity with machine shop tools and mechanical test benches.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
+ Significant experience in mechanical engineering design and test setup.
+ Experience with instrumentation selection and data analysis tools like LabVIEW, Python, or MATLAB.
+ Knowledge of industry standards such as ASME BPV Code and ASME B31.1 or B31.3.
Work Environment
You will work in an office environment, with responsibilities split between two sites (Rockville, MD and Frederick, MD), spending approximately 50% of your time at each. The role requires hands-on involvement in mechanical troubleshooting and use of machine shop tools.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58.00 - $80.00/hr.
