We are seeking an Environmental Engineer / Design Engineer to join our team in Irvine. This full-time, in-office role offers significant technical responsibilities and growth potential. Initially focused on design engineering, this position has the opportunity to transition into project management based on workload and performance.
Responsibilities
+ Create engineering designs for remediation systems and infrastructure using AutoCAD.
+ Develop conceptual site models and remediation plans.
+ Navigate municipal permitting processes and prepare regulatory submissions.
+ Collaborate with relevant authorities on compliance matters.
+ Oversee drilling and sampling of soil, vapor, and groundwater wells.
+ Perform vapor pin and groundwater monitoring.
+ Manage subcontractors during field activities.
+ Prepare quarterly performance reports for remediation systems.
+ Draft groundwater sampling reports and client proposals.
+ Review RFPs and contractor bids.
+ Track budgets and timelines across multiple projects.
Essential Skills
+ 2-5 years of experience in environmental consulting or environmental engineering.
+ Bachelor's degree in Geology or Environmental Engineering.
+ Proficiency in technical writing with the ability to distinguish between findings and conclusions.
+ Experience in drilling and sampling of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater monitoring wells.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Comfort with fieldwork, especially in the initial years of employment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ AutoCAD proficiency.
+ OSHA 40-HR HAZWOPER certification.
+ PE license.
+ EIT/GIT certification.
+ Experience with DTSC and Water Board submissions.
+ Exposure to business development.
+ Ability to work independently.
Work Environment
The position is based in a small office of 10-14 members, combining office and fieldwork. The culture is collaborative, flexible, and family-friendly with a strong emphasis on mentoring and in-person learning. The role is full-time and in-office for the first 90 days, with flexible hours and potential for remote work thereafter. The position involves 50% fieldwork for the first two years, decreasing to 10% after five years. Projects focus on brownfield redevelopment, industrial cleanup, and litigation support, with budgets ranging from $100k to $500k.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
